Masters squash players made the country proud at the recently concluded 4th Asian Squash Masters 2019 at Hong Kong.

A total of 8 players represented Malaysia at age categories ranging from 40+ to 60+ across both men and women events from Sept 5 to 8, 2019 at the Kowloon Cricket Club.

Despite the uncertainties of Hong Kong’s political climate, Team Malaysia kept their focus to achieve 3 podium finishes.

National coach, Kenny Foo led the way, by winning all his matches on the way to the finals without dropping a single game, beating Saurab Nayar from India 3-0,  to emerge the Champion for Men’s 40+.

Ex-national, Patricia Choong played gallantly to upset the 2nd seed, to compete in the finals of the Women’s 45+, but lost eventually 0-3 to first seed, Yoriko Michishita from Japan.

Ex-national champion, Tan Tian Huat, continued to recover his touch with every tournament, ending as 3/4 placing, losing 0-3 in the semis to eventual Champion Malcom Kerr, from Hong Kong in the Men’s 50+.

SRAM and the Masters Community Network, MySquashMasters would like to take the opportunity to thank all the players who participated, gave their best and represented Malaysia proudly.

The next big WSF Masters Tour event will take place in Malaysia on Nov 8-10, 2019. The Malaysia Masters Open tournament will see players coming from over 10 different countries to compete for national pride across age categories of 35+ to 70+ in both the men and women events.
