Squash57 Roadshow at Malacca

Sivasangari win PSA young female player of the year.
June 5, 2018

The roadshow resumed in May with the arrival of the new Dunlop racket (Predator) which is now available for sale during the roadshow on a special promotion from Dunlop.  We hit several clubs and squash parties in the Klang valley and did a state association roadshow for Malacca over a period from 12 May till 23 May.

The first club we hit was Raintree Club where it was our first attempt to sell the game to a group of Tennis enthusiasts.  The idea is to provide an alternative aerobic sport in case of bad weather for outdoor sports that a racket player can easily pick up.

This was followed by a roadshow for two groups or parties. The first is a group that calls themselves TOYS based in Bukit Jalil courts and the second is a group already playing Squash57 who calls themselves Squash57@work, based in Bukit Bintang School.

The next stop was in Malacca, hosted by Malacca SRA at the Malacca Club. This is the first stop that we finally have new Dunlop rackets for sale and we did well in selling 4 rackets. We are confident that we finally have made a breakthrough in converting some of the senior players at this club to Squash57.

Lastly, we made a stop at Kelab Golf Negara Subang (KGNS) which to our surprise has a group of many ex-national squash players playing here. Great to meet them again. We managed to sell two rackets to start a playing group.

The Squash57 roadshow will resume after Hari Raya.  But better still, we will be having the first Malaysian National Closed for Squash57 on 4-8 July 2018 at Bukit Jalil, at the same time with Squash.  Following the same format as Squash, we will be having an Open Division and Master’s for age groups 35+, 45+, 50+ and 60+.  The entrance form is available and let us make this inaugural event a success.

For the Squash57 Team event, RSC will be having their first championship called the Royal Selangor Club LKJ Squash57 Open Championship on 27-28 July 2018.  The entrance form is available and there are two categories; Open Division and Master’s 50+ Division.  This will be the first time an Open Squash57 Team event is organised in Malaysia and we look forward to more of this if the response is encouraging.
